Following their preseason opener in Vancouver, the Sacramento Kings are waiving Jeremy Lamb. The Sacramento Bee’s Jason Anderson was the first to report the news, with ESPN1320’s James Ham confirming.

Anderson reports that, assuming he clears waivers, Lamb is expected to join the Stockton Kings.

Lamb is an experienced veteran on the tail end of his career. He originally came to Sacramento as part of the Domantas Sabonis trade, and appeared in 17 games for the Kings at the end of the 2021-22 season. Lamb did not play in the NBA or G League last season. It’s a little surprising to see him taking a G League role, but he’ll be able to provide a nice veteran presence for the developing players in Stockton. I like the idea of it overall, even if it does come as a bit of a curveball.

When the Kings added Lamb to the training camp roster I thought he had a good chance to land the 15th roster spot as a veteran wing who would be on a contract that was easy to cut if the team had a need for the extra roster spot. It remains unclear if the Kings intend to keep that 15th spot open as they enter the regular season, or if they have other plans.

That’ll teach him to score six points in six minutes of play.

OT: For those who couldn’t watch the KCRA “Game On” documentary about the Kings that aired Sunday, you can watch it on the KCRA website:

Having Lamb f go to Stockton is a good thing. Having an open roster spot is great. Teams are now starting to pare down and many teams have a glut at one position. Kings got JaVale in this way, this year and Edwards ex essentially in the same way last year. Will they get an all-NBA guy? no but perhaps one with a single unique skill.

Man, this Stockton roster is looking nice!

Anjali and company are putting a SQUAD together. Good for her.
